Import substitution is a trend that started in the 2010s, increased many times with the introduction of restrictions in 2022, and continues to this day. In the IT industry, the greatest difficulties arose at the level of replacing hardware infrastructure. Many of these problems have not yet been resolved, but the situation has significantly improved for the better. For example, Yadro, a developer and manufacturer of high-tech equipment, launched the first stage of a plant in Dubna to produce data storage system servers, tablets, client systems, and radio access equipment for mobile communication networks. The enterprise will operate at full capacity at the end of the year.
In addition, after the sudden departure of Western companies from the Russian software market, one of the key tasks of vendors was to help companies adapt to new conditions while maintaining the content writing service functionality of the entire IT infrastructure. In 2022, the demand for service support for Western information systems increased sharply. Many companies and their managers fell into a state of reflection. They needed time to realize that things would no longer be as they were before, which meant they needed to change. Some needed more time for this, and they are just entering the cycle of replacing foreign solutions with domestic software.

Reacting to changes in the external environment, the IT landscape began to adapt to market conditions, but it takes time to prepare for new realities. Managers and business owners were forced to start acting long ago, having defined priorities beforehand, since it is not easy to replace everything at once. Now there is more understanding of the future, and companies are starting to take active steps. And it can be said that the trend of changes and active implementation of domestic products will continue in 2024.
However, blindly replacing Western products does not make sense. We need to act more broadly, focusing on the real needs of the market
Gradually, this understanding reaches all market participants. It is critically important to distinguish the usual set of functionality that was in the products of foreign vendors from the objective requirements that domestic developers can focus on when creating their products. Significant changes can also be seen on the part of customers. If earlier their requests were vague and abstract, now they are becoming clearer. Therefore, we have chosen this path for ourselves: having anchor customers, the company developed 70% of solutions for them, and 30% - based on the needs of the rest of the market. In general, it makes sense not to copy and adapt foreign solutions, but to create our own products, thereby ensuring the sovereignty of the country.
SECURITY AND CLOUD
According to one of the forecasts of the analytical company IDC , by 2026, 65% of IT organizations will purchase only those infrastructure solutions that contain predictable cyber-resilience mechanisms, which will help reduce costs and efforts to restore systems in the event of hacker attacks. One cannot but agree with this, because in the current global situation, ensuring information security of critical information infrastructure is one of the first places.
In the current reality, it has become expensive and difficult for many companies to maintain their server fleet due to increasingly complex supply chains. In particular, this is why cloud technologies are becoming trendy and experiencing rapid growth.
